I have accepted a new job for the upcoming year, to fill an urgent need – I have agreed to serve as the Director of Human Resources at SIL, Cameroon, the Wycliffe partner that we are attached to in Cameroon, Africa. In this role, I will lead the team responsible for recruiting staff for future needs in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, and also for member care (including things like our annual spiritual retreat) for the more than 150 people involved here in supporting our translation, linguistic, and literacy programs. Our people currently come from multiple countries located in Africa, Europe, North and South America, and are involved primarily in research, translation, training and materials development.
To date we have worked in more than 100 languages here, doing things like linguistic analysis and research; publishing grammars and dictionaries; translating the Bible, Sunday School, and health materials; and designing and supporting adult and primary school literacy programs in local languages, as well as supporting that primary work with everything from aviation to teachers (I can’t think of a job here that starts with ‘Z’ 🙂 )
This is a very new role for me, so I would appreciate your prayers! Fortunately, I am starting out with a great team to support me.
Blessings,
-Kevin
