Prayer for strike in NW/SW provinces

A strike by lawyers and teachers in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon continues – it started in November 2016. In December 2016, there were a number of deaths in some of the protests. Schools are scheduled to reopen on January 9, 2019 in Cameroon after the Christmas break.

We can take heart that, at the core, Cameroonians of all positions, ethnicities, language groups, faiths, and persuasions have shown themselves to be a peace-loving people time and time again. Please pray that God will stretch out his hand over Cameroon with a new peace that passes all understanding, a spirit of communication and compromise, and a sense of solidarity. Please pray as well that this will be a time that more and more people turn to trust in God and to love their neighbors.

UPDATE – January 26, 2017

The situation in the North West and South West Regions continues to be a great concern for Cameroon. Most schools have been closed since November 2016. Many businesses are closed on certain days. Since January 18, 2017, there is no Internet in these two regions. This means that digital communications are limited to cell service. Thankfully, all our staff are safe and accounted for.

Please pray for the swift resolution of this situation and for the safety and well-being of all the Cameroonians and expatriates living and working in these areas. Pray that Christians would be united in prayer.
